This Marques de Montino Rioja 2009 is £9 from Sainsburys. It first came to our attention on Saturday Kitchen and we are thankful for the recommendation

Rioja is arguably Spain’s top wine region and is one of only two regions classified under the Denominación de Origen Calificada (DOCa) system. Its two most important red grapes are Tempranillo and Garnacha.

Although red wines from Rioja are prized, Spanish wines generally offer great bang for the buck, allowing one to indulge in quality vino without breaking the bank!

This Marques de Montino Rioja 2009 has a medium body and a high acidity that Spanish red wines from Rioja makes them excellent for pairing with a variety of foods. The approachable price points makes these wines of outstanding quality, readily available to enjoy without guilt.

This is a full flavoured wine of great character and depth. A bouquet of herbs, leather and spices bursts from the glass, whilst the rich textured palate offers concentrated ripe cherries, layered with earthiness and spice. The tannins are silky and well balanced resulting in a long elegant finish.

This Marques de Montino Rioja 2009 would go well with Beef, Lamb, Veal and Poultry and it is recommended that this wine should be consumed within 5 years of purchase.
