This Haut Medoc 2012 is an exceptional wine. From Fortnum and Mason this Haut Medoc 2012 was a gift from customer who was delighted with the work we did for him and it was great wine to say thank you with. This wine is priced at £18 its certainly one for a special occasion.
Haut Medoc is the large southern section of the greater Medoc district of Bordeaux in south-western France and also the name of the appellation that covers the vineyards here. It accounts for two-thirds of the Medoc peninsula and produces more fine wine per acre than almost anywhere else in the world.
The Haut Medoc is home to the ‘famous four’ Bordeaux appellations of Margaux, Pauillac, Saint-Estephe and Saint-Julien, as well as the lesser-regarded Listrac and…more
One of the reasons that it provides such good value for the quality is that it is quite large at around 114 hectares which brings significant economies of scale. Soils are well-drained, deep and gravelly. The blend is typically 60% cabernet sauvignon, 35% merlot with small amounts of cabernet franc and petit verdot.
Alcohol by Volume: 13%
Grape: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot
Body: Deep, full bodied red. Smooth on the palette.
This Haut Medoc 2012 makes an excellent wine and food pairing with most game, beef, veal, pork, lamb or duck dishes. Haut Medoc wines also pair well with roast chicken dishes and a wide variety of cheese.
