Sunday the day of rest, Its beautiful sunshine, the Monico Grand Prix is on, the BBQ is cooking so we thought we try this Rioja Bianco 2015 by Lopez de Haro.

White Rioja can be something of a gamble but we took a chance on this one based on a recommendation from the staff at Majestic Wine in Horsham. This wine has lovely aromas of pineapple, white rose and almonds on the nose. It’s delicious full fruit and vanilla with a smooth mouthfeel and a long finish.

This is really easy drinking but can be savoured to appreciate the complexity and layered tastes and aromas.

Colour: White Wine
Style: Creamy Whites
Closure: Natural Cork
Alcohol by Volume: 12.5
Country: Spain

López de Haro manually harvest the grapes used to make this wine bunch by bunch from vineyards in the Sonsierra area of La Rioja Alta. The vines are aged between 50 and 80 years and are planted on the foothills of the Tolono Mountains. An interesting and complex wine. Ripe fruit flavours result in a mouth-filling finish and pleasant aftertaste.

Enjoy with buttery roast chicken, mildly spiced dishes or even fish and chips.

You can buy this wine from Majestic Wines here for £7.49 a bottle.
