Climbing Shiraz 2018 Orange

Orange is the highest and largest cool climate wine region in Australia, creating a wine that’s full of ripe plum and cherry with a smooth peppery edge.

We’ve all been there: You’re standing in the supermarket, staring at the same bottles of wine you always pick. Or, perhaps you’re browsing an online wine retailer and you have no idea what to pick out for your next party. There are so many labels and price points to choose from that it’s hard to know where to begin.

This is why I’m happy to do this legwork for you. I’ve tried yet another bottle of wine and I’m here with my review (and a rating) so that you can make an informed decision before your next purchase.

Today, I’ll be reviewing the Climbing Shiraz 2018 Orange from Cumulus Estate Wines, a winery based in New South Wales, Australia. I purchased this bottle from Waitrose for £7.49
Thsi wine comes packaged in a clear bottle with a simple white label that features a drawing of a person climbing. The label doesn’t give away much information about the wine inside — which I actually prefer because it forces me to read up on the product before consuming it.
The Climbing Shiraz 2018 Orange is a wine that’s just as good to drink as it is to say. It’s the kind of mouthful, that you always want more ways than one.
The taste of the Climbing Shiraz Orange is what makes this wine different from other wines. The aroma is fresh, that’s full of ripe plum and cherry, with notes of black pepper in the background. The acidity and overall structure of the wine makes it suitable for enjoying with food.
This in my opinion is one of the best wines from Australia, and it’s not hard to see why. It’s an elegant, easy-drinking wine that can be enjoyed by most people at any time of year. If you’re looking for something to sip on while watching the sunset, this is a wine worthy of your attention.
I’d recommend pairing this with any red meat or cheese dishes you may be serving, as well as charcuterie boards and antipasti platters. The deep red colour of the wine will complement any food it happens to be paired with, so don’t feel limited by my suggestions!
